Exerpt Xenophanes explains. "They were mortal once, thousands of years back. In the time of the immemorial, something sinister and dangerous, something mysterious and supernatural made them different. Ancient Dead they’re called. The oldest and most powerful vampires known across these lands. Age after age, they have assumed the identities of Europe’s most revered deity, flaunting powers only gods could possess. Mortals have worshipped them as gods and goddesses to be loved, feared and appeased by the giving of their blood. "But now there is Arvo, an Incrementum, an offspring of an Ancient Dead and something UNKNOWN, from the darkest reach of time and place, Africa, its vestigial essence whispered to be twenty thousand years before the birth of Christ. There is no other threat that the Ancient Dead fear, but this creature, this abomination, this monster a cunning beast, too cunning to coin beast, churning its ascendancy to dominate and eliminate all vampires that commit laws against nature. Due to it’s unique approach, it is advisable that you read the important terms and definitions below before you proceed to read the sample chapters below. v Tao (dao) is a concept found in Taoism. While the word itself translates as 'way', 'path', or 'route', or sometimes more loosely as 'doctrine' or 'principle', it is often used philosophically to signify the fundamental or true nature of the world. v Ancient Dead: The oldest European vampires. They are over seven thousand years old. v Antediluvians: Second oldest vampires. They are approximately five to three thousand years old. v Conscientia (The Knowledge): Conscientia is knowledge of the origin of the vampires. It is protected at all costs, because it would give Arvo a clear advantage. v Dhamphyre: Offspring of two VIRVs that are less than one thousand years old. v Incrementum (deadly offspring): A powerful offspring of two Antediluvians or Ancient Dead. v Nocturnes: The youngest vampires. They are only centuries old and cannot venture into the light. v Poisoned Minds of Darkness: mortals and immortals who commit crimes against nature. They abuse the worlds natural resources (including mortals). The crimes can range from deforestation of the rain forest to child abuse. v Sakros-Dola (Sacred Language): An Indo-European language. Only the Ancient Dead and their direct descendents, the Antediluvian, are allowed to speak to one another. It is considered an insult if any other types of vampires speak the language. v Wortos-potis: Indo-European for lord master.
NOTE: Due to it's graphic nature Tao of Vampires is not recommended for young readers.
